Utah's uniform law provision, §76-10-500, mandates statewide uniformity so no local jurisdiction can impose stricter knife rules. Threatening with a dangerous weapon and possession with criminal intent are Class A misdemeanors carrying up to 364 days and a $2,500 fine. In Salt Lake City v. Miles (2014), the Utah Supreme Court reversed a felon's dangerous weapon conviction over a 3.5-inch pocketknife, though the legislature later amended the statute to narrow the ruling's reach.
