Connecticut caps ordinary carry at a 4-inch edged blade and automatic knives at 1.5 inches, and violating §53-206 is a Class D felony carrying one to five years and up to $5,000. In State v. DeCiccio, 315 Conn. 79 (2014), the Connecticut Supreme Court held dirk knives are constitutionally protected arms, not dangerous and unusual weapons. There is no statewide preemption, and the statute's "edged portion of the blade" measurement language leaves real ambiguity about how blades are measured.
